Work Profile-


The Food and Consumer Protection Division is responsible for inspecting all permanent and temporary food establishments, such as bars, restaurants, schools, grocery and convenience stores, festivals and farmer food markets. Inspectors conduct food-borne illness investigations, educational programs and follow-up on all food-related consumer complaints. The division also investigates food establishment fires and food-related vehicle accidents. Any new establishments or ones undergoing remodelling or renovation are subject to a facility plan review and related inspections. The division also inspects tattoo and body-piercing establishments and responds to complaints about hotels and motels.
Functions & Objectives


  • Food security to poor people.
  • Supply of food grains and other items at subsidized rate to the Above Poverty Line (APL), Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya families.
  • Supply of free food grains to old destitute under Annapurna scheme.
  • To control price, black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities.
  • To control adulteration of Petrol and Diesel.
  • To ensure proper distribution of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).
  • Protection of consumer's rights and their welfare.
  • To provide Minimum Support Price of grains to the farmers through procurement.
  • Supply of subsidized Kerosene Oil to the consumers.
